This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home and crocheted. This little piggy hasn’t really had much inspiration lately and totally let the blog slide. I’ve made a few things here and there, but just wasn’t feeling it was blog material. And then this little piggy came along, and isn’t he the cutest little piggy? So quick and easy to make, my favorite kind of project! So here we are. A new tutorial.

Materials

  • 4.5 mm hook
  • 1 skein light pink worsted weight yarn (MC)
  • A small amount of dark pink worsted weight yarn (CC)
  • 2 safety eyes or a small amount of black worsted weight yarn
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Blunt needle for weaving in loose ends

Notes

  • Gauge is not critical for this project, use thicker yarn to get a larger result or lighter yarn for a smaller result.
  • Pattern is worked in continuous rounds. Do not turn or join unless specifically instructed.
  • Place a marker in the last stitch of every round. Move it up as you work.
  • Unfortunately, safety eyes are not actually safe for children under 3, so if you’re making this item for younger children please use yarn for the eyes instead.

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • st – stitch
  • sl st – slip stitch.
  • blo – back loop only
  • sc2tog – single crochet 2 stitches together: Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook – 1 stitch decreased.
  • idec – invisible decrease: insert hook in front loop of next stitch, then (without yarn over!) insert hook in front loop of next stitch. Yarn over and pull up loop through both front loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops to complete the single crochet – 1 stitch decreased.
  • [ … ] – repeat instructions in [ ] as many times as specified.
